Angels Walk for Autism at SM MOA Wednesday, January 30, 2013
THE Autism Society Philippines (ASP), together with the SM Cares Program on Disability Affairs, recently culminated the 17th Autism Consciousness Week with the Angels Walk for Autism, themed "Autismo Alamin: Pagtanggap at Pag-unawa Palaganapin," at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA).
The event had persons with disabilities (PWDs), especially those with autism walking with parents, friends and supporters along the grounds of SM MOA to celebrate the Autism Consciousness Week.
Engr. Bien Mateo, program director of SM Cares Program on Disability Affairs, said in his speech: "SM always ensures that PWDs are comfortable when they are in our environment. We want all of them to be able to enjoy all the shopping experiences and have fun just like everyone else. It has been our thrust that SM will always be an .angel to all PWDs."
SM has earned the distinction of the most PWD-friendly mall in the country because its malls address the needs of PWDs and has over the years, provided sufficient accessibility and comfort to PWDs visiting SM environments, Every year, SM Cares together with ASP holds the Angels Walk for Autism event to help the public understand persons with autism and to get them involved in the overall efforts aimed at enabling children or adults with autism to live with dignity, live independently and contribute productively to society.
