SM Supermalls will celebrate Labor Day on May 1 by holding a nationwide job fair in its 33 malls.

SM Malls have been a catalyst in creating employment and business opportunities in all areas where they are located, and the job fair is one way in which it can do its share for the community, it said in a statement.

To be held in cooperation with the Department of Labor and Employment, the Public Employment Service Office and local government units, the job fair aims to salute the Filipino work force and help as many people as possible find employment.

With more than 800 companies participating, the event encourages people to join the job fair.

Booths will be set up and staff from different companies will be ready to receive applicants.

Among those participating are SM companies like SM Supermarket, SM Hypermarket, SM Cinemas, SM Foodcourt, SM Leisure Center, Family Entertainment Center and SM Investments.

This is the second nationwide job fair that SM Supermalls has organized. Last year 822 companies joined the event. Of 29,617 registered participants, 70 percent were hired.
