SM City Rosario rolls out competition for young Caviteño designers Wednesday, May 22, 2013 Business Mirror
SM City Rosario has launched its very first fashion competition, titled "OBRA: Cavite Young Designers Competition 2013," a cloth-making fashion competition using indigenous materials of Cavite, such as fish scales from "Tinapang Salinas" Rosario, coffee bean from Amadeo, sea shells and a lot more.
OBRA was initiated to help promote awareness of the environmental campaign and take part on the effort of greening the fashion world, as well as elevate the Philippine fashion industry into world-class fame. It aims to encourage local designers to take a step to expose and boost up local skills into national and even global level.
"This is the first-ever fashion competition using indigenous materials which Cavite is known for, and through competitions like this, we open opportunities for young and aspiring fashion designers of Cavite in showcasing their craftsmanship, ingenuity and support to fashion industry as well," said Ritzgerald T. Gonzales, assistant vice president for South Provincial Luzon Marketing-SM Supermalls.
The competition is ongoing and is open for all the residents of Cavite. Prejudging will be on May 23, where all creations will be checked by a set of judges. Finals night will be held at SM City Rosario Event Center on May 26 at 6 p.m. All entries will be exhibited at the same venue from June 3 to 12.
