SM City Fairview celebrates Independence Day Thursday, July 5, 2012
The Daily Tribune SM City Fairview held a four-day activity to celebrate Independence Day. From June 9 to 12, the mall extended mall hours to 10 p.m. for shoppers to enjoy more time in its Freedom Sale, which offered up to 50 percent discounts. Different activities were also showcased to entertain the shoppers.
On June 10, cultural dances by the UP Filipiniana Dance troupe were performed at different parts of the mall. Dances included tinikling, binasuan and pandanggo sa ilaw. At the Annex, the Angono Chamber Orchestra serenaded the shoppers with OPM love songs and Pinoy folksongs.
From June 11 to 14, the Kabisig Government Expo showcased different government agencies for shoppers to be more informed on their different services. On June 11, there was Freedomworks, a seven-minute pyrotechnic display of red, white and blue.
On June 12, there were simultaneous flag-raising ceremonies in all SM Supermalls. In SM City Fairview, it was held at the Annex Atrium where it was participated in by SM administrators, affiliates and tenants. Representatives from government agencies and the community were also present to witness the event. Present were PWD advocate and former governor Grace Padaca; representative of Second District Ally Medalla; barangay chairman of Pasong Putik Evangeline Dungca with kagawads; barangay Greater Lagro executive officer Miguel Mariano; Girl and Boy Scouts of West Fairview; and Daniel Guillen, head of Kabisig Movement. The affair ended with a play highlighting the important events in Philippine history directed by Joey Nombres and starring Gerald Santos
