SM Prime Group Recognized Among Asia’s Best Employer Brands for Transformational People Strategies
SM Prime Holdings, Inc. and SM Supermalls once again received recognitions as one of the best employer brands in Asia at the 10th Asia’s Best Employer Brands Awards, held last August 15 at the Pan Pacific, Singapore. The award ceremony, hosted by the World HRD Congress and the Employer Branding Institute, aims to celebrate excellence in HR and recognize organizations and individuals who push boundaries for people strategy.

SM Prime Holdings, Inc. and SM Supermalls were recognized for innovative initiatives across the employee life cycle. The organizations were also acknowledged for the positive brand experience being created for the people and their contributions to talent management and development.

The transformational journey which started in 2017 helped define the SM Talent Management Framework delivered through the five HR Centers of Excellence (COE): Recruit Right, Perform Right, Develop Right, Reward Right and Engage Right. Each Center of Excellence focuses on a specific aspect of the employee life cycle with dedicated projects aimed at developing and innovating our people programs.
Recruit Right: Getting the Right Talents with the Right Attitude
The “Pride in My Purpose” recruitment video, was launched to improve SM Prime Group’s employer branding. The group experienced an improvement in quantity, quality and speed in hiring through the implementation of improved recruitment standards and metrics.
Perform Right: Creating a Culture of High Performance, Grit and Execution
In order to evolve and transform the way we manage our people, the company rolled out a simplified Performance Management System which is based on five dimensions: Financial Performance, Quality Process, Customer Experience, Learning & Growth, and the BE P.R.I.M.E Values.
Develop Right: Building and Accelerating Talents from Within
For us to develop talents and prime them to become future leaders, the company created a more impactful learning environment and programs that are anchored on the four learning tracks: Leadership, Functional, Behavioral, and Compliance. This comprehensive talent development program is designed to accelerate employee readiness in performing their roles and in building a pipeline of future ready leaders.
Reward Right: Innovating Rewards. Recognizing Superior Performance.
HR spearheaded digital transformation by launching Project ACTS (Automation of Contractors Timekeeping System) and One HR. These digital platforms allow our employees and partners to easily navigate employee related concerns online. This year also saw the inclusion of Rank & File and Supervisors in the Group Life Insurance and Group Personal Accident Insurance. Likewise, SM Group discounts through the SM ID Pride program has been communicated.
Engage Right: Working Together With A Happy Heart
In SM, we believe that the success of the business lies in our happy, mindful (malasakit) and productive people. To foster these three characteristics and cultivate a culture of working together with a happy heart, SM launched the SM LIFE (Life Integration for Employees) program, spearheaded by no less than Mr. Hans T. Sy. Under this program are various employee engagement initiatives which are communicated through a more engaging platform such as the LEADERS’ Circle, HR Summit, Candid Coffee with the President, HR BEAT, Celebrate YOU and other employee volunteerism programs.
The SM LIFE espouses a life of happiness, purpose, and success. It also encompasses all stages of the employee life cycle, from attracting and retaining talents and becoming an employer of choice, to increased productivity and engagement.
