A COUPLE of months ago, Henry Sy Sr., the man behind the biggest chain of department stores across the country, SM Department stores, passed away. His passing reminded many of us that SM Iloilo was the first SM department store outside Manila.

This has also made me recall memories of SM’s transformation through my eyes, over the years.
