SM Seaside City Cebu, in partnership with the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines and the Archdiocese of Cebu Relief and Rehabilitation Unit, bring to you the first Caritas Film Festival 2016.
The film festival is in connection of the third Yolanda commemoration themed as “Celebrating Community Resiliency: The True Heroes of Yolanda,” which movie screening presents different faces of braveness and heroic acts despite difficulties in recovering from typhoon Yolanda.
Entries of the film festival are Si Nanay (produced by the Diocese of San Jose de Antique), Root of Inspiration (Diocese of Kalibo), Smile within the Lyrics of the Song (Capiz Archdiocesan), Hope Amidst Darkness: A Blind Man’s Story (Archdiocese of Palo), and the Tagbanua’s Pride (Palawan Apostolic Vicariate of Taytay).
Other films produced by different provincial social action centers are Capability Beyond Disability (Diocese of Calbayog), “Tay Sibal” (Jaro Iloilo Archdiocesan), Bangon, Pusong Pinoy (Archdiocesan of Cebu), and The No man stands alone: A Journey to Recovery (Diocesan Commission-Justice and Peace of the Diocese of Borongan).
An entry of CFF like of that produced by the Western Samar, Capability Beyond Disability, tells a story of a man named Allan, one of the survivors in Barangay Bacubac, Basey, Samar.
After the wrath of Yolanda, he donated his coconut trees to his community folks for them to build temporary shelters since their barangay is a coastal area. Allan is a polio patient who is always present in all training and orientations facilitated by the Social Action Center- Diocese of Calbayog.
The three day movie set on Dec. 7 (today) to 9 screening of Caritas Film Festival starts at 9:30 a.m. at the Centerstage of SM Cinema at SM Seaside City Cebu located at the second floor, Mountain Wing.
