SHOPPING mall operator SM Prime Holdings Inc. will inaugurate its 63rd mall in the country, using another brand it recently acquired.
The company said it will open SM Cherry Antipolo on Friday. The mall is situated along the busy Marcos Highway, and spans 27,000 square meters (sq m) of gross-floor area, bringing the property giant’s total retail footprint to 9.1 million sq m in the Philippines.
“SM Cherry Antipolo is the third Cherry Foodarama outlet in the country that SM Prime reopens to the public after acquiring the brand. The opening of this mall provides the company a stronger foothold in the eastern part of Metro Manila along with our three other malls in Rizal province—the SM City Masinag, SM City Taytay and SM Center Angono,” SM Prime President Jeffrey Lim said in a statement.
SM Cherry Antipolo is set to expand the presence of the SM Group in Rizal province by bringing its anchor brands of supermarket, hardware and bank to the area.
The three-level mall will open with more than half of its space already leased or awarded and will feature an enhanced shopping environment for the community, offering expanded services beyond the traditional grocery experience.
It will also have a Skygarden on the second level, which will share a comfortable and inviting outdoor experience with covered dining areas and walking paths.
Earlier this year, SM Prime already opened two shopping malls—SM CDO Downtown Premier on May 12 and S Maison at Conrad Manila on June 14.
This year the company is set to open another mall in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.
SM Prime recently became the first Philippine company to reach P1 trillion in market capitalization on the back of a favorable market outlook.
The market capitalization was reached after the Sy family integrated all of its major property businesses under SM Prime in 2013.
“The strategic move of SM Group enabled SM Prime to realize synergies among its business units, increasing efficiencies in operations and revenue in enhanced shareholder value. It also allowed SM Prime to pursue larger projects, from reclaiming land to long-term integrated developments,” it said.
