SM Supermalls, the country’s biggest mall chain, has launched a casual employment program for elderly citizens as part of their efforts to uplift the lives of the elderly in the community.

Casual and part-time positions at SM Supermalls are made available to elderly citizen members of the community, to help empower those who are looking for ways to continually keep themselves active and busy after retirement. Some of the positions are mall entrance greeters and guides, female restroom assistants, food court table usherettes, taxi passenger assistants and cinema ticket booth guides.

The program aims to reinforce sustainable development and empowerment to the elderly. The mall developer’s corporate social responsibility arm, SM Cares, spearheads various programs for elderly citizens, persons with disabilities, overseas Filipinos, children and women and the environment.

As part of the community, SM aspires to fulfill its task of being a socially responsible stakeholder through providing jobs that could enrich the lives of many sectors, including the elderly. For them, this is one of the means of giving back to the older people in society who have helped and inspired us in many different ways.
