Sunday, 24 June 2012 — After the successful tree-planting activity held recently at the Busol Watershed, SM City Baguio has revisited its adopted area and planted 7,000 pine tree seedlings in cooperation with the Police Regional Office-Cordillera.

For this semester, a total of 9,557 seedlings were already planted by SM City Baguio to fulfill its commitment to plant 50,000 trees, most of it within Baguio City, and the rest will be planted in other parts of the country. This forms part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility program. Last January, 400 seedlings were planted within SM City Baguio compound, 2,000 at the Busol Watershed by the SM City Baguio admin employees and affiliates last February in support to the government’s National Greening Program,157 at Forbes Park and another 7,000 at the Busol Watershed last June 7. 

The seedlings that were planted are being monitored and maintained by DEYAN Construction hired by SM City Baguio to ensure high survival rate of the seedlings at the adopted site in Busol in the next three years. The 2,000 seedlings that were planted last February at the watershed has achieved 100% survival rate.

Also, SM City Baguio has put up its own nursery in preparation for their series of tree planting activities in Baguio City. Again, within the month of June, in observance of the Philippine Arbor Day, SM City Baguio is planning to plant 15,000 seedlings at the Busol Watershed.
