Dr. Henry Sy Sr. will be conferred tomorrow the honor of adopted son of Bacolod Cityin line with the celebration of this year’s BacoLaodiat Festival, that kicks off today.

Sy, a Chinese-Filipino businessman and philanthropist,will be represented by his son Hans Sy, who will arrive in Bacolod at about 2 p.m. tomorrow, Jennifer Gochangco-Ong, festival chairperson, said.

Henry Sy, 92, one of the richest living men in the country, hasanHononary Doctorate in Business Managementfrom De La Salle University in Taft, Manila.

Sy was named the Father of Philippine Retail by the Philippine Retailers Association in December 2005 and he was also the Lifetime Achievement Awardee of the Enterprise Asia-Malaysia in December 2016.
