Multi-dollar billionaire businessman Henry Sy did not study in Dela Salle University. He took a four-year course in Far Eastern University.
But the charity arm of his business empire is donating a modern library on the campus of DLSU that costs P1.2 billion.
The gift is in appreciation for the education that his children – all successful – got from the school founded in 1911.
According to Bro. Ricky Laguda, president and chancellor of DLSU, the modern 10-storey library, will open in October or before the end of the year at the latest.
Laguda said the building will have a roof top garden. The other floors will also have green live plants to emphasize the Sy’s and DLSU’s concern for the environment and their fight against pollution.
The library is the biggest donation by anybody to any school in the Philippines, according to Laguda.
