Last week, Standard Today published a letter from one Lai-Lani Barcenas, legal counsel for the Motion Picture Anti-Film Piracy council regarding my item last June 26 about the prevalence of pirated film materials through a new medium – camcording. My gulay, would you believe that camcording is even resorted to by pirates using cameras hidden in popcorn bags. Talk about creativity!

Barcenas asked that I name the person whom my sources say was allegedly making a living out of flicker piracy, and who is in the organization of Ric Camaligan, vice president of SM Leisure for operations.

Let me clarify that when I said “organization,” I did not refer to the Motion Picture Anti-Film Piracy Council. My sources say that this person has links with the business organization where Camaligan can easily do a thorough check on this report and weed out this person, who is doing a great disservice not only to SM Leisure but to the local film industry as well.
