Baguio City — SM Prime holdings Corp. will allot at least P2 million to spruce up Burnham Park.

Mayor Mauricio Domogan on Friday signed an agreement with SM Prime president Hans Sy covering the project.

Karren Padilla, SM City regional public relations manager, said joint undertaking is part of the retail chain’s contribution to realize the masterplan pushed by the University of the Cordilleras.

“SM will be undertaking the beautification and landscaping project at its own expense,” she said.

Among the improvements are an expanded children’s playground, additional benches and tables at the picnic area, lighting fixtures, permanent fence and repair of the drainage system.

According to Padilla, aid SM will take of planning and implementation while the city government works out the council resolution along with permits and other clearances.

Once the project is completed, SM will turn over the management, administration and operation of the children’s ’playground to the city government.

“With the unity and cooperation of our people and our corporate partners, we will surely go a long way in terms of improving the state of our parks in the future so that more people will be enticed to frequently visit our city,” Domogan said.

He has instructed the city environment and parks management office to coordinate with SM management to enable the project’s completion in time for the peak vacation season.
