MANILA, Philippines – In line with the Christmas season, SM Supermalls has chosen Filipino-Canadian YouTube sensation Maria Aragon to be the official voice of SM Christmas.

Aragon, who rose to fame after she posted a video of her own rendition of Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” on YouTube, will sing a remixed version of SM Supermall’s official holiday tune, entitled “SM Christmas Chrisms Bop.”

During her press conference, Aragon said she did not expect to be back in the country this soon.

“Actually I thought that the only thing that’s gonna be ahead for this year was the Manny Pacquiao fight and so we’re really happy to be back in the Philippines especially during the Christmas season where everybody is really happy,” she said.

Aragon said she is happy to be part of the Christmas season in the country.

“I know that Christmas is really important to every Filipino so it’s great to be back. I feel really happy because…I get to have a little bit of the feel of the Christmas in the Philippines since it starts really early,” she said.

Aragon arrived in the Philippines last Thursday. She will be staying here until November 7.

Aside from her stint as the SM Christmas voice, Aragon is also in the country to promote her self-titled album. Last July, the YouTube star signed a contract for a record deal with Star Records.

She also had a “meet and greet” with her fans on Saturday at Miriam House in Legaspi Village, Makati City.

After visiting the Philippines, the 11-year-old singer will fly to the United States to sing the Philippine national anthem in the upcoming fight of 8-division boxing champion Manny Pacquiao against Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez.
