BALIUAG, Bulacan, Philippines — More or less 1,000 indigent patients from the poorest sector of society received free medical attention during a medical and dental outreach mission conducted by the SM Foundation Inc. and Bulacan Media Investigative Reporters (BMIR) held at SM event center here last Tuesday.
The medical and dental outreach mission had successfully treated indigent patients for different sickness which include medical treatments, dental or tooth extraction.
Doctors Martin Gonzales and Nelson Bautista said poor residents of Baliuag and nearby towns that were invited all get free medical and dental services by public and private volunteer doctors who joined the said event.
SM foundation representative Betina de Guzman said the mission is aimed at serving indigent families in areas within the vicinity of SM malls.
De Guzman said the event was able to serve the combined target beneficiaries from Baliwag and its nearby towns.
The BMIR also expressed trust in giving medical treatment to the poor families in the province with volunteer doctors from the government and private sectors participate in the said noble project.
The BMIR said that this maiden project with SM Malls wants to make life better for hundreds or thousands of indigents in the province and give them hope similar to the way Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy Alvarado and Malolos City Mayor Christian D. Natividad reserve Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays as days for serving the needs of the poor.
