(Saturday, June 15, 2013) ANGELES CITY – A Filipina was picked as one of the beneficiaries of a reality-based national television program in Netherlands titled “Destination Unknown.”

A certain Priscilla and her three-year old daughter Maxin received assorted groceries, electric fan, and clothes from executives of SM City Clark.

Priscilla adopted Dutch students Chresta and Charlotte for one week at a small makeshift house (a barong-barong of about 8X8 square feet) in Barangay Balibago.

The Dutch students, who are taking up courses on Education and Development of Children, were flown in the Philippines for an immersion program.

Reyald Bogerd, producer of the television series, said the Dutch students experienced how Priscilla makes both ends meet to support her daughter and other members of the family.

“We want to show people in Netherlands that there are people in other parts of the world that are living in difficult circumstances,” Bogerd said.

Priscilla collects empty bottles of mineral water every day and sells them at the junk shop at the end of the day. Maxin’s biological father, who is an Australian national, refused to provide support to the family, according to her.

“We admire Priscilla because, [despite of her situation], she is struggling to survive,” Bogerd said, adding they are adopting place in the world where there is poverty.

“We have seen how the two girls cope up with [Priscilla and her family’s situation],” the film producer said.

Priscilla’s case was endorsed to the reality-based TV show by Renew, a organization against human trafficking in Netherlands which is based in the Philippines.

Ana Datu, SM City Clark manager, said Bogerd and his television crew asked permission to shoot inside the mall while Chresta and Charlotte buy clothes and other basic needs for Priscilla and Maxin.

“We want to make the visit of Priscilla and her daughter bigger and exciting because we were told it is their first time in the mall,” Datu said.

Priscilla, together with her daughter, had a mall tour and went to SM Store, Surplus Shop, Hypermarket, SM Appliance Store and others.

Mark Herrera, SM City Clark assistant mall manager, said they donated grocery items, an electric fan, and clothes to Priscilla and her daughter to show the people that SM Supermalls is also committed in helping people particularly the indigent families.

Priscilla thanked Bogerd, the two students, and SM City Clark for their support to the family.

The Dutch TV crew and the two students returned to Netherlands the other day. The TV series will be shown in Netherlands next month until September, according to Bogerd.
