The 7th IMAX theater in the country was unveiled last May 17 at the latest hotspot at The Fort—the SM Aura Premier.

SM Prime Holdings president Hans T. Sy, West Avenue Theatres Corporation SVP Edgar C. Tejerero, and Imax Southeast Asia SVP Don Savant graced the opening of the upscale cineplex.

Savant, in his speech, said that it is in the spirit of vision that has driven IMAX for 45 years and counting. He likewise expressed his excitement over IMAX’s partnership with SM Cinema, which began when it opened its first screen at the SM Mall of Asia in 2006.

“I’m thrilled to be here today alongside our valued partner SM Cinema who shares our vision of bringing the ultimate movie-going experience to the audience across the Philippines,” Savant said.

The IMAX Aura theater is designed to fill one’s field of vision and engulf one in cinematic surround sound that is so powerful it’s almost tangible. Its features include a slightly curved movie screen that is several times larger than a standard theater screen, and seats that are angled for an unobstructed movie viewing.

SM Aura also has two digital theaters and two Director’s Club Cinemas. It is located at 26th Street corner McKinley Parkway, Barangay Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
