OLONGAPO CITY, May 28 (PIA) — An honest security guard of SM City Olongapo was commended by a US Navy personnel after he returned a wallet stuffed with credit cards and money he found.
Albert Acera was the guard on duty when he saw a wallet at the perimeter area near the Supermarket entrance on April 26 at around
8 p.m. containing credit cards, ID and $100 cash. He immediately took the wallet to the security office of the mall and determined the owner.
The wallet belonged to Fernando Abuan, a US Navy serviceman who said he inadvertently dropped his wallet when he got off the taxi in front of SM.
“When I tried to withdraw money from the BDO ATM, I noticed that my wallet was gone. I reported it to the customer service at the first floor of SM and the lady manning that counter took my name and phone number,” Abuan recalled.
After determining the owner, Customer Relations Service (CRS) Supervisor Mike Mungcal made a call to Abuan to inform him that his wallet was found by the mall’s security.
After a brief exchange, Abuan thanked the security personnel and tried to hand over a cash reward to Acera who then refused to received it.

“It goes without saying how proud we are of Acera as a member of our team for the way he conducted himself. His actions speak highly of the integrity of all our security and our company,” Isidro said.
Abuan was very grateful to Acera and the security team for the return of his wallet, he even mentioned in his letter to Asst. Vice President for Security Affairs Almus Alabe that Acera deserved some words of praise.
In a similar incident, SM housekeeping personnel Noel Marcos and Aldrin Arcilla also found a wallet on April 21 inside Cinema 3 while conducting intermission cleaning inside the theater and later returned the wallet to the owner Jose Mari Tayao .
Meanwhile, Watsons ELF Cosmetics Beauty Consultant Gellie Ann Cruz found a black Samsung Galaxy cellphone on April 19 and immediately turned over to the owner Lino Niembra , a resident of Kessing Street, Olongapo City.
