BAGUIO CITY is currently working hand-in-hand with SM City Baguio to re-green the city with a tree-planting activity every week until the last week of February 2013.
Around 4,000 trees will be planted during the first two months of the year by community leaders, residents and students.
SM has been involved in Baguio’s environmental renewal program for eight years now. Since 2005, more than 23,000 tree saplings have been planted by SM. These trees are located at Busol Watershed, Buyog Watershed, Tuba Benguet, Burnham
Park and SM City Baguio mall premises.
The SM Cares Program on Environment initiated this tree- planting activity to promote environmental awareness in making Baguio a greener place and start its sustainable development leading to a better quality of life for Baguio residents.
Recognizing the importance of trees for Baguio residents and future generations, SM committed to plant 50,000 trees within the next three years. It also created programs on waste management and recycling to ensure the cleanliness of its mall surroundings including the overall community where SM City Baguio stands.
