Iloilo City, Iloilo — Both private and public sectors in Iloilo City are becoming more acceptable to persons with disabilities (PWDs). “Its acceptability of PWDs is getting stronger,” observed Dolores Laudenorio, council member for PWD sector of the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) in Western Visayas region. The Regional Council on Disability Affairs (RCDA-6), which is composed of different government agencies, recently conducted inspections in Iloilo City, the capital of Western Visayas region. RCDA-6 commended Iloilo Supermart-Atrium branch, Iloilo City Hall, Association of Disabled Persons, Inc. Canteen, Robinsons Place Iloilo, and SM City Iloilo. Among the basis for the commendation are hiring of PWDs and its buildings are accessible to PWDs, especially wheelchair users. (Tara Yap)
