August 9, 2014, Marilao, Bulacan — It came as a surprise for hundreds of kids as the dancing violet hippo with colorful popcorn cart came rolling down the ramp of SM City Event Center during the recent free Medical and Dental Mission.
The once quiet and gloomy atmosphere was filled with big scene of fun and excitement as little kids lined up to get free popcorn, coloring books and toys after availing of their free medical and dental consultation.
Parents and mall goers thanked SM Foundation Senior Project Manager Dr. Rorie Siasoco. Parents said they know that the SM Foundation just wanted to spread hope and joy to little kids while they are having their free medical and dental benefits.
During the humanitarian event, thousands of medicines were distributed along with vitamins and other health supplements. Free eye check-ups were also given by Ideal Vision to beneficiaries while Chummy Chum gave freebies and entertainment to little kids.
Through the SM Foundation Mobile Clinic, beneficiaries were able to avail free diagnostic and laboratory services such as electro cardiograph (ECG), x-ray tests and urinalysis as well as free blood pressure check.
A total 1,025 indigent patients from Bulacan benefitted from the free medical and dental consultations conducted by the partner-volunteer doctors from Order of Malta, Philippine National Red Cross, Bulacan Medical Center, Nazarenus College Foundation Hospital, St. Michael Medical Hospital, Prime Health of SM City Marilao, and Municipal Health Office of Marilao.
