SM Prime Holdings, Inc. President Hans Sy recently hosted an exclusive dinner for internationally acclaimed directors, producers, and actors during the début of the first-ever World Premieres Film Festival (WPFF).

A joint project of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), SM Lifestyle Entertainment, Inc. (SMLEI), and various embassies in the country, the WPFF aims to enrich and deepen the Philippines’ love for arts and culture through films. With 40 festival films from 27 countries, WPFF was the biggest international film festival in the Philippines this year.

During the dinner, Sy honored some of international cinema’s brightest stars: Brazilian director, screenwriter, and producer Rosario Boyer and  Guilherme Da Silveira; Iranian director and screenwriter Reza Azamian; French director, producer, cinematographer, and screenwriter Dominic Bekaert; Spanish director, actor, screenwriter, and cinematographer Juan Pinzas; director Arturo Prins; and director and screenwriter Vicente Herrero; Ecuadorian director and screenwriter Alfredo Leon Leon; and Turkish director Feyzulla Serkan Acar.  They were welcomed by Sy, SMLEI President Edgar Tejerero, and FDCP Chairman Briccio Santos.

SM Cinema has been the largest film distributor in the country, helping the expansion of the local film industry. It is a part of SM Lifestyle Entertainment Incorporated or SMLEI, which is now the educational, sports, and recreational arm of SM Prime Holdings Inc. that offers the best in movies, events, leisure and technology.

The WPFF was shown in select SM Cinemas of Mall of Asia, Megamall, North Edsa, Sta. Mesa, and Manila from July 2 to 8.
