Two-hundred twenty scholar graduates of the SM Foundation met and thanked their benefactors for school year 2014 during their annual presentation at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
Their benefactors from the family of Henry Sy Sr. to the sponsors of My Scholar Program have made it possible for them to fulfill their dreams of acquiring college education.
They are the SM Foundation’s 18th batch of graduates since the scholarship program started in 1993.
The program opened with a prayer led by Ana Bernadett P. Banzuela, a BS Accountancy magna cum laude graduate from the Angeles University Foundation.
Parents and graduates delivered testimonials to convey their gratitude to the Sy family.
Representing the parents were Yolanda L. Pangilinan, mother of Kenneth Pangilinan, summa cum laude graduate of BS Accountancy, Holy Angel University; Rey N. Ruedas, father of Regine Ruedas, BSBA magna cum laude from the University of the Philippines; and Nimfa T. Araullo, mother of Dee Jay T. Araullo, a magna cum laude Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English graduate of the National University.
From the scholar graduates, Louise Michelline Gille R. Ason, BS Civil Engineering cum laude, Ateneo de Naga University; Kent B. Mission, BS Accountancy, cum laude, Liceo de Cagayan University; Eruel James A. Quito, magna cum laude, BS Accountancy, University of the East-Caloocan; and Jamaica P. Englis, summa cum laude, BS Accountancy, University of San Carlos, Cebu thanked their benefactors and sponsors and shared their experiences as SM scholars.
This year’s batch has four other summa cum laudes, Christian Acosta, Bachelor of Science in Engineering, National University; Cesar G. Castillo Jr., Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, Far Eastern University; Samantha Joyce G. Mabalot, Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, Far Eastern University; and Cedrick S. Zapanta, Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, Asia-Pacific College.
The batch also has 19 magna cum laudes, 29 cum laudes, and 15 who graduated with academic distinction
