Business News – SM City Lucena is all set to host the Labor Day Jobs Fair 2014 in coordination with the Lucena City Public Employment Service Office (PESO) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Thursday, May 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the 3rd floor event center here.

Lilibeth Azores, SM Public Relations Manager for South Luzon 2 & 3, said the malls’ hosting along with 49 other SM supermalls nationwide would provide convenience and expedite job hunting experience among applicants and employment aspirants.

Over 310,000 jobs are up for the take in the Labor Day Jobs Fair in various SM malls across the country including the SM affiliates and tenants.

In Lucena City, Azores said the SM group and tenants such as SM Supermarket, SM Store, Ace Hardware, Watsons Store Philippines, Sabella, Shia Hair, Bioessence, Highlands Coffee, Onesimus, Buddy’s Restaurant, Calmar Land at Artwork Inc also offer job vacancies.

Azores also expects around 19 companies based in the city and nearby localities to join in the jobs fair and seven firms have firmed up to join for their overseas hiring.

The SM PR manager named the participating firms as North Point Development Bank, Carlos Superdrugs, Alliance Mansols, EPSON Precision, Mirof Resources Inc., Peoples Concept and Ideas Phil. Corp., Career Professional, Dranix, QCRB, CDO Foodshore, Jeannies Touch, Renzmar, Tradewell, VCCI Bakeshop, Boardwalk, Open IT, Blue Chips Human Resource and Manpower Inc., Coca-Cola Bottlers and Peter Paul Corp.

Overseas employment and jobs are offered by Eyequest, Pisces International, East and West, Grand Placement, United Global Manpower Resources Inc., RURU Global Recruitment Services Inc. and 1st Northern International Placement Inc.

Meanwhile, the DOLE and PESO units of local governments in Laguna also partner with SM City San Pablo, Calamba City, Santa Rosa City and Muntinlupa City for the Labor Day Jobs Fair from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the SM mall complex.

Regional Human Resource Management Officer Evangeline King of the SM Shopping Center Management Corporation (SCMC) said the SM affiliates and companies located in Laguna are participating in the jobs and employment fair. Job vacancies are also offered in the Laguna-based SM Store, SM Supermarket, Ace Hardware, Watson Pharmacy and various tenants.

King said registration starts at 8 a.m. while the screening and interviews will start at 10 a.m.even as he reminded job aspirants and employment seekers to bring the necessary documents for their job application.

King reminded applicants to bring their personal data sheet, school diploma, certificate of training if any, a certified copy of birth certificate and other certifications or documents that may be required by the human resource officers of the hiring companies. She also advised applicants to wear appropriate attire and ready their valid IDs such as voter’s identification car and other pertinent documents owing to screening procedures and interviews that may be required when they are hired on the spot. – PNA
