
April 16, 2014 — FIFTY-six skaters from 15 countries will participate in the International Skating Union (ISU) World Development Trophy starting on Monday at the skating rink of the Mega Fashion Hall at SM Megamall.
Local bets will vie for honors against entries from Argentina, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, New Zealand, South Korea, Singapore, South Africa, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, United Arab Emirates and Uzbekistan in the six-day meet.
Megamall also hosted last year’s edition of the event featuring 53 skaters from 11 countries.
Sofia Guidote, Audrey Alcaraz, Alyssa Comia, Elia Mendoza, Keith Stephanie Angeles and Dominique Katigbak will represent the Philippine Skating Union (PhSU) and compete in the Juniors, Novice A and Novice B categories.
The PhSU, which earned the accreditation from the ISU in 2006, is also hoping to host other future international events including the continental championship for speed skating and world junior figure skating tournament.
