Manila, Philippines — Mall patrons Sonia Tan and her family had the surprise of their lives when SM Valenzuela Customer Relations Service personnel knocked at their door to return the bundle of money worth P32,970 and other valuables.

They were not expecting that their lost money would be returned when they unknowingly dropped it after shopping.

Mall roving security guard Alexander Cañares of Panther Security Agency, who saw the lady bag containing the money around 6:50 p.m. last weekend, was praised by the Tan couple for his honesty and for not being tempted to take the money himself.

Cañares said his first impulse when he saw the bag at the car park was to turn it over to the Customer Relations Services Department of the mall and look for the rightful owners, adding pocketing the money never entered his mind.

“Kahit mahirap kumita ng pera ngayon, gusto kong gawin ng matuwid po yung trabaho ko,” said Cañares.

Meanwhile, also last weekend, SIC Romeo Robles of Vican Security Services Corporation recovered an iPhone while conducting clearing inspection at SM Valenzuela Cinema 3.

The Black Apple iPhone, worth P35,000, was immediately returned to cinema patron Angcao Celestino.

Like the Tan family, cinema patron Celestino was glad and thankful for the honesty of Romeo Robles.
