SM Foundation scholars numbering 600 representing 63 percent of the total current SMFI scholars gathered at the Center Stage, SM Mall of Asia recently for the annual SM Scholars’ General Assembly. Enrolled in various SM Foundation partner colleges and universities nationwide, the scholars were warmly welcomed by executive director for Education Linda Atayde.

The Scholars’ General Assembly serves as a venue to welcome the new scholars and brief them of the scholarship guidelines as well as remind old scholars of the rules and regulations governing scholarship grants. Eleanor Lansang, project director of SM Foundation, was tasked with imparting the general reminders. At this general assembly, the scholars are introduced to the SM Group of Companies including the top officers that run the company and who propel SM to what it is today.

Scholar Imee Gatpandan from Rogationist College led the prayer while Misael Bolis from the Tarlac State University delivered a testimonial; former scholar, Neslie Bibera spoke on behalf of former scholars.

Harley Sy, president, SM Investments Corp. exhorted the scholars with his inspirational message revolving around the theme ‘If You Will It, It Can Happen.’

An open forum gave the scholars the opportunity to ask questions, clarifying certain guidelines of the project. After lunch, a tour of the Science Discovery Center followed.
