Female high school graduates will undergo training at the Punlaan School under the SM Foundation Inc. scholarship program. In a memorandum of agreement signed by SM Foundation represented by executive director Debbie Sy and executive director for education Carmen Linda Atayde and Punlaan School executive director and CEO Luz M. Falmer, SM Foundation will fund the full tuition of the scholars who will pursue the two-year dual training program in food and beverage services. 
 

The  food and beverage services program is a diploma course that provides the students the skills and knowledge necessary to pursue careers in the tourism and hospitality industry.

The program’s graduates maybe employed as food attendants, pantry attendants, beverage attendants, kitchen attendants and cost control clerks. Courses offered in Punlaan are accredited by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

The diploma course in food and beverage is accredited by Department of Tourism, Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE), and the Hotel and Restaurant Association of the Philippines. Requirement for acceptance to the school’s [programs are high school graduates with a general average of 80%; 16-23 yrs. Old, single and 5’2�? in height; monthly family income of not more than P7,000, and physically fit with pleasant personality.

By financing the students’ education and training, SM Foundation broadens its scholarship program to include short-term technical-vocational courses.

This enables the beneficiaries to acquire skills needed for livelihood and gainful employment and contribute to the economic uplift of their families. Punlaan School a project of the Foundation for Professional Training Inc. was established in 1975 to help underprivileged young women acquire livelihood and employment skills.

It is a technical-vocational school and tourism training center that provides technology-based education as well as work ethics and moral values formation.
