CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela, July 14 (PIA) – In its effort to raise awareness on the current state of environment and to encourage positive action towards preserving the eco-system, the SM City here has launched the Green Film Festival (GFF) which will host series of film festivals to elementary and high school students featuring environmentally-themed movies and documentaries.
Krystal Gayle Agbulig, SM City Cauayan public relations officer, said the GFF project aims to educate and make Filipinos become aware to the plight of our earth today through a visual information campaign for eco-awareness.
Agbulig said the GFF is a project of SM Cares, a division of SM Foundation and the CSR arm of SM Prime Holdings, Inc., in partnership with the Department of Education, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Climate Change Commission, National Youth Commission, Movie and Television Review and Classification Board, United States Agency for International Development, and GMA-7, the festival will run from July 2015 to March 2016 with one documentary to be shown every third Tuesday of the month in SM cinema’s nationwide.
Screenings will be for free in 51 cinemas in SM Supermalls and 6 Waltermart all over the country.
She said apart from the films and documentaries, the GFF likewise includes the Climate Change Commission’s five-minute info video on the 15 ways to LEDS (Low Emission Development Strategies).
Agbulig added that the mall’s other environment conservation initiatives include Trash to Cash recycling market held every first Friday and Saturday of the month, the Green Retail Agenda forum for mall tenants, contractors and suppliers, and the SM Supermalls Green Bag. (ALM/MGE/PIA-2 Isabela)
