CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela, March 24 (PIA) – – The first SM Supermall in the province is set to join in the worldwide observance of Earth Hour on Saturday, March 28, 2015.

Earth Hour is already on its ninth year of observance with the theme, “Change Climate Change” is again expected to unite hundreds of millions of people from more than 7001 cities and towns in 154 countries and territories across all the seven continents in protecting the planet by switching their lights off.

Krystal Gayle Agbuig, SM City Cauayan public relations officer, said this will be the first time for the mall to observe Earth Hour to inspire Cauayenos and Isabelinos to take stand on the threats of global warming and to make a commitment to a low-carbon lifestyle by switching off their lights for an hour.

She said the observance of Earth Hour at SM City Cauayan will commence with the ceremonial switching off of lights by the Mall Manager and the City Mayor which will then be followed by drumbeaters and fire dance performances.

“Taking also part on the campaign are runners which will go around the town proper with their torch to bring light in the streets of the city,” she said.

The annual observance of Earth Hour aims to raise the consciousness of the people on environment care and protection.

She added that it is a positive act for the mother Earth to prevent natural calamities brought by climate change.
