Former US Vice President Al Gore will be in the country to keynote the third staging of the Leadership Conference Series — a string of lectures aimed at allowing top Philippine leaders from the academe, business, government, and non-government sectors to learn from the experience and expertise of global leaders.

SM Prime Holdings, the country’s largest mall operator, is sponsoring the visit of Gore, who has become a leading advocate of global measures to reverse climate change.

To be held on April 30, at the SMX Convention Center at SM Mall of Asia Complex, the third part of the Leadership Conference Series will have Gore present an Asian version of An Inconvenient Truth, the provocative multi-media presentation on the threat of climate change and solutions to global warming and the subject of the movie of the same title, which has won critical and box-office acclaim. The Academy Award-winning film is already considered one of the top documentary films of all time.

A Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, teh former Vice President has just published Our Choice: A Plan to Solve the Climate Crisis, his latest book which gathers in one place all of the most effective available measures that will help solve the climate crisis.

“We have always been committed to environmental preservation. Beyond our many environmental programs, we feel that we can further spread the advocacy by having more people learn about this global problem and how it impacts each and every one of us. This is why we are bringing in the world’s most influential authority on climate change. We want the urgency of his message to be heard by Filipino leaders as well as Filipinos in general,” Hans Sy, president of SM Prime Holdings, said.

Since 1992, SM Prime Holdings and SM Supermalls have embarked on numerous programs to manage consumption of power and energy, water and solid materials in all its malls — which now number 37 malls nationwide. Two years ago, SM consolidated these activities under the SM Cares program, along with its other corporate social responsibility efforts in the areas of children, women, breastfeeding, overseas Filipino workers and persons with disabilities.
