THE Pediatric Ward of the San Pablo City District Hospital renamed Felicidad Sy Pediatric Ward has been renovated ,upgraded and officially turned over to the Chief of Hospital, Dr. Jose F. Guia & Laguna Governor Ramil L. Hernandez by Connie Angeles, SMFI Executive Director for Health and Medical Programs at simple ceremonies held yesterday, December 16.
The 35-bed capacity renovated wing located at the 3rd floor of the Laguna Provincial Hospital includes the 2 PhilHealth Wards, Neo-Natal Ward, Doctors Consultation room, Critical Ward, Isolation Ward, Miscellaneous Ward, Respiratory Ward, Nurses’ Station, Play Area & a storage room which doubles as Pharmacy.
According to Marionette Sutare, Head Pediatrician, majority of the pediatric cases are children suffering from pneumonia, dengue and other respiratory illnesses. Seven pediatricians assigned have their hands full attending to these patients who sometimes occupy even the corridors of the ward. Now that the ward has been upgraded, the hospital does not expect an overflow.
While awaiting for the program to start, a group of doctors approached Connie Angeles, Trustee of the Foundation, to request the equal renovation & upgrading of the Medical Ward located across the Pediatric Ward. She was given a tour of the Medical Ward to update her on the state of disrepair of the Ward. The Medical Ward’s condition compares miserably to the newly renovated Pediatric Ward.
After the blessing & formal turn-over of the facilities, Angeles officially announced that the request of the Phase II repair of the Medical can be possible for year 2016. She likewise announced that regular maintenance of the ward & upgrade of facilities will be part of SMFI’s commitment to the San Pablo City community. It was a fitting Christmas gift to the people of San Pablo City!!
