SM Leisure Resort and Residences (SMLRR), a unit of SM Prime Holdings Inc. (SM Prime), is taking its tree-planting program a step further. Through a partnership with the SM Foundation, each sapling planted now supports scholarships for the children of caddies and employees at Tagaytay Highlands Club.

“What began as a simple greening initiative has grown into a dual investment—one that nurtures both the land and the future of our workforce,” said Shirley C. Ong, SMLRR Executive Vice President and Business Unit Head.

There were 134 saplings consist of Balitbitan, Bagras, Nedra and Siar,  planted across its premier residential enclaves—Primrose Parks and Horizon Terraces.

Located within the Tagaytay Midlands community, Primrose Parks is a low-density neighborhood with 99 lots spread out at just 16 lots per hectare. Horizon Terraces is a 3.2-hectare enclave featuring Asian contemporary-style garden suites and villas.

Donated by Highlands Prime Inc., each tree was marked with a personalized stone, a quiet symbol of rooted commitment.

More meaningfully, each donation contributes directly to the SM Foundation’s scholarship fund. So far, three students have already been sent to school through the program—proof that small acts can yield life-changing impact.

“Each tree planted today is an investment not just in a greener planet but a brighter future for our employees’ children,” added Ong.

The Club’s commitment has remained steady year after year: 1,136 trees were already planted since 2023 and an ambitious 1,000 trees targeted this 2025. That brings the total to 2,136 trees planted—each one standing for sustainability, education and community upliftment.
