
As a result of the successful implementation of energy efficiency and conservation initiatives across its properties, SM Group received six citations from the Department of Energy at the recent Energy Efficiency Excellence awards.
SM Supermalls earned four Certificates of Excellence in the Energy Management for Industries and Building category for SM City Olongapo Central, SM City Daet, SM City Davao and SM Center Pulilan. Meanwhile the group’s commercial and hotel properties received two separate distinctions for excellence–Three E-Com Center was awarded as a noteworthy Green Building – Large Category and Park Inn by Radisson Clark was lauded with a special award for Innovative Use of Technology.
DOE Secretary Sharon Garin led the presentation of certificates to Engr. Teodoro Bautista, Senior Vice President of SM Engineering Design and Development and Engr. Liza Silerio, Vice President for Corporate Compliance, SM Supermalls for the winning SM malls. SM Prime Holdings’ Mr. Eric Uy, Senior Vice President for SM Hotels, and Mr. Alexis Ortiga, Business Unit Head for Commercial Properties Group, were present to accept their respective recognitions.
The SM Group continues to exemplify environmental sustainability in the private sector, aligned with the Department of Energy’s nationwide goals towards energy efficiency and conservation. Energy efficiency remains one of its biggest sustainability pillars, maximizing resources while lessening business impact to the environment.
Just last week the property developer celebrated a milestone for the consolidated 100Megawatt solar power peak capacity from 59 rooftop solar photovoltaic systems.
