(13 May 2009. Pasay City, Philippines.) SM Prime Holdings, Inc. (SM Prime), the Philippines’ dominant shopping mall developer and operator, has scheduled the launching of the SM City Rosales Annex on Friday, 15 May 2009, increasing SM Rosales’ total GFA to 60,989 sqm. SM City Rosales, which was inaugurated only in November 2008, is located at Barangay Carmen, at the eastern portion of Rosales, Pangasinan.
SM Prime President Mr. Hans T. Sy said, “Our immediate expansion of SM City Rosales lays claim to the municipality’s strong local economy and enabling environment for business. Its continued progress in agricultural, and transport services further contribute to a heightened level of consumer activity, prompting us to pursue the expansion without delay, a record of sorts for both SM Prime and the municipality of Rosales.”
The anchor tenant of SM City Rosales Annex is the SM Department Store, which will occupy 16,686 sqm of floor space. In addition, the Annex will house Greenwich, Chowking, Pancake House, and 7-Eleven, among others. The amenities of SM City Rosales Annex include a food court; and four cinemas, with a combined seating capacity of 1,800.
For the rest of 2009, SM Prime is scheduled to open SM City Rosario in Cavite, SM City Pamplona in Las Piñas, and the Sky Garden at SM City North Edsa. By yearend, the company is expected to have 36 malls in the country, with an estimated total GFA of 4.9 million sqm.
