MANILA, Philippines, 8th October 2026 — SM Supermalls was recognized with five HR Asia Awards 2026, affirming its continued commitment to creating a workplace where employees can learn, grow, contribute, and find purpose.
The mall operator was named among Best Companies to Work For in Asia for the fourth consecutive year, while also receiving the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, People Transformation, Sustainable Workplace, and Tech Empowerment Awards.
Together, the recognitions reflect SM Supermalls’ continuing journey from being a Top Employer toward delivering the most loved experiences anchored on trust, care, and growth.
Creating a workplace where everyone can thrive

Celebrating excellence by awarding Mall of the Year to exemplary malls; Employees and their loved ones enjoying their day out at a theme park during the annual company Summer Outing; and employees being competitive in playing pickleball and cheering for their teams on the basketball championship of the company’s sports fest. We make sure to show up and support each of our employees during moments that matter to them.
With a 7,500-strong workforce, 90 percent of whom are Millennials and Generation Z, SM Supermalls is building an environment where employees can bring different perspectives, experiences, and ideas to the workplace.
Its approach to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion centers on creating equal opportunities, respecting different perspectives, and giving employees a voice. From celebrating employees’ achievements to supporting them during meaningful moments in their lives, the goal is to create a workplace where people feel they belong.
For SM Supermalls, inclusion is not simply about representation. It is about creating an environment where people feel heard, respected, connected, and empowered to contribute.
Helping people build what comes next

There is a growth path for all: Mentoring as part of working ways in the organization, may it be between an immediate head and their subordinate or peer-to-peer; Coaching workshops are also rolled out to make sure that everyone can practice giving respectful and valuable feedback; Through Teams in Motion, SM Supermalls’ Culture Caravan turns its culture aspirations into shared experiences across all 90 malls.
Growth is an important part of the employee experience at SM Supermalls.
Through coaching, mentoring, learning programs, and developmental conversations, employees are given opportunities to build their capabilities and navigate their career paths. In 2026, SM Supermalls recorded 159,000 learning hours, including 73,000 hours dedicated to digital learning, while its coaching and mentoring programs achieved a 97 percent quality rating.
These investments are designed to help employees develop future-ready skills and stay relevant as the nature of work continues to evolve.
The recognition for People Transformation reflects this focus on making growth part of the employee journey—not simply as a destination, but as an ongoing process of check-ins, culture caravans, leadership development programs, and executive coaching, among others.
Making an impact beyond the workplace

Employee volunteers participating at Happy Walk with Down Syndrome Association of the Philippines, Inc. and International Coastal Cleanup. Giving back through meaningful and sustainable ways further enable SM Supermalls employees to thrive through collaboration with various groups and local communities.
For SM Supermalls, a meaningful employee experience also extends beyond the workplace.
Employee volunteerism reached 40 percent in the first half of 2026, with employees participating in coastal cleanups, disaster response efforts, and workshops promoting inclusivity for senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
These opportunities allow employees to connect their work with something larger: the communities around them.
The HR Asia Sustainable Workplace Awards 2026 recognize this broader view of sustainability, where environmental responsibility, social impact, and ethical practices are part of how the organization operates.
Putting technology to work for people

Tech Discovery Workshops and screenshots from Logimon, SM Supermalls’ gamified and AI-generated course, are some of our digital learning programs that make work better because employees are equipped better.
As employees navigate a rapidly changing workplace, technology plays an increasingly important role in helping them work and learn better.
SM Supermalls invested ₱93.5 million in HR technology from July 2023 to June 2026, generating a 230 percent return on investment.
The investment supports the organization’s efforts to simplify workflows, strengthen productivity, and enable employees through technology. It also supports digital learning initiatives such as Logimon, SM Supermalls’ gamified e-digital learning course, which includes AI-generated learning modules and complements ongoing culture efforts.
The HR Asia Tech Empowerment Awards 2026 reflect this approach: technology is not simply introduced for its own sake, but used as an enabler for people to do their work more effectively and prepare for the future.
For SM Supermalls Senior Vice President and Group Head for Human Resources Cheryll Ruth Lat-Agsaoay, the five recognitions reinforce the importance of listening to employees and intentionally shaping their experience.
“Our journey to delivering the most loved people experiences start with listening to our people and intentionally creating interactions built on trust, care, and growth. When our people are empowered to learn, contribute, and find purpose in what they do, they are better equipped to create the experiences our customers and communities love,” she said.
Ultimately, the five HR Asia awards are more than recognition. They reflect an ongoing commitment to creating a workplace where people can grow their careers, find their voice, make an impact, and prepare for what comes next.
Because at SM Supermalls, the most loved malls begin with people.
