BACOLOD CITY — A total of 2,300 policemen will be deployed to secure the delegates of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit gathering in this city on April 29 to 30.

During these dates, Bacolod will host the Meeting on “Disaster Risk Finance-APEC Roadmap for Resilient Economies” at the SMX Convention Center. Delegates are expected to arrive starting April 25.

Supt. Noel Polines, chief of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO-Operations Branch, said the police force will provide maximum security during the APEC meeting.

Of the number, 600 policemen will come from the BCPO while 1,700 will be augmented by personnel from various units under the Police Regional Office-6.

The deployment process will start five days before the actual meeting to eventually secure the different areas of concern, he said.

Polines said that police force will be assigned to hotels, the SMX Convention Center, and major streets.

A sub-task unit has been also organized to give maximum security coverage and public safety and emergency response services to the delegates, he added.
