June 28, 2014 — RESIDENTS of Heneral Uno, a socialized housing community of SM and of Sitio Caimitohan in General Trias, Cavite lauded the construction of the Chapel of Our Lady of Miraculous Medal, dedicated and blessed by Bishop Reynaldo Evangelista of the Diocese of Imus recently with its donor, Felicidad T. Sy as Guest of Honor. 

With the construction of the new Chapel, Catholic residents of the community need not go far to participate in religious activities especially Sunday masses. The Chapel will be under the supervision of the parish of San Vicente Ferrer of Mangahan , Fr. Ariel Lisama. 

Aside from shouldering the expenses incurred in the rebuilding of the Chapel, the lot on which it is located was also donated by the Sy Family. Heneral Uno is a socialized housing community of SM comprising of 2,365 houses. So far, 907 have been constructed and sold, 50 of them fully occupied. The donation of the chapel to serve the spiritual needs of those living in the community manifests the religious advocacy of the matriarch of the SM family, Felicidad T. Sy. A deed of donation turning over the Chapel to Church officials was also signed. Among the special guests during the occasion were Mayor Antonio Ferrer of Gen. Trias and Representative Luis Ferrer IV, Fr. Bernie Gasilo of Trece Martirez and members of the Municipal Board of Gen. Trias. Also present were members of the SM family headed by Josemarie Banzon, AVP of SMDC, Lynn O. Sy, President, Summerhill Dev, Corp., Cecille Badiola also of Summerhill Dev. Corp., Glen Ang of SM Supermalls, Rose Siaco of SMIC and Mel Elido of SMFI.

In 2012, the Gen. Trias Medicare Hospital was reconstructed by SM Prime & SM Foundation with “Nanang” Sy as Guest of Honor. It was during this occasion that the request for the chapel was brought up which is located just a stone throw away from the SM Housing site. In the same year, SMDC & SMFI donated three schoolhouses in Pasong Kawayan ll, Pasong Kawayan Annex & Manggahan Elementary School in General Trias.
