SM Foundation, Inc. recently turned over a one-storey two-classroom schoolbuilding and books to the Pines City National High School Pinsao Annex in Baguio City. It is the 25th schoolbuilding donated by SM Foundation.

The Pines City National High School Pinsao Annex used to be an extension campus of Pines City National High School Bonifacio Annex. By 1994, the Pines City National High School Pinsao Annex became a complete secondary education school. With the increase in student population and the shortage of classrooms in the school, Pinsao Annex teachers conducted classes in borrowed classrooms of the Pinsao Elementary School.

At present, Pinsao Annex has a student population of 522 consisting of 12 sections. However, due to classroom shortage, the three sections of senior high school classes were reduced to two.

Despite this, its students have been performing well academically, consistently topping the National Achievement Test for four years in the school level, beating students from the Pines City National High School main campus and the other annexes. Last year, students from Pinsao Annex ranked first in the entire division of Baguio City in the DepEd-administered test.

The new schoolhouse like other SM schoolhouses is provided with complete classroom facilities including blackboards, desks, teaching aids and fitted with complete toilet facilities.

While construction of the school buildings are undertaken by SM Prime Holdings, Inc., the task of maintaining and handing these over to DepEd is a function of SM Foundation.

The schoolbuilding donated to Pinsao Annex is the second of its kind to be given by SM Foundation to the city of Baguio. Prior to this, the Foundation had turned over a schoolbuilding to the Irisan National High School.
