(25 MARCH 2012) MAGALANG, Pampanga—Canon-Philippines and SM Supermalls spearheaded the outreach program here on Saturday benefiting persons with disability (PWD), mostly children.
The project dubbed “Reach for the Sky 2” was designed to create awareness for the special needs of PWDs, said Canon and SM Supermalls through SM Cares and SM Disability Affairs.
The whole-day project was held for the second straight year at the Angeles City Flying Club (ACFC) as “each child had their own pilot to teach them everything about the aircraft – from controls to dynamics – and ultimately take them for the ultimate joy ride.” ¯¯¯¯¯¯“It’s nice to see top corporations giving something back to the community,” said ACFC’s Terry Hockenhull.
SM Supermalls vice president for operations Bien Mateo said the photos taken by volunteer photographers will be displayed later this year at SM malls in Central Luzon. He said it’s second time SM had supported the project for PWDs.
“I hope this project will go on,” said Mateo.
Ace advertising photographer John Chua will lead the exhibit and workshops nationwide.
Chua is leading the group called “Photography with a Difference: Touching Lives through Photography.” They are helping the PWDs.
The beneficiaries of the project are AD/HD Society of the Philippines, Autism Society Philippines, Down Syndrome Association of the Philippines Inc., KYTHE Foundation, Parent Advocates for the Visually Impaired Children, Philippine Society for Orphan Disorders Inc., and the Parent Council for the Welfare of the Hearing Impaired Children Inc.
