SM Foundation has once again launched the Donate-A-Book project that invites SM shoppers to donate old books, a press release from the mall said.

It is in cooperation with the Bato Balani Foundation, Philippine Information Agency, Department of Social Welfare and Development, National Book Development Board, Children International Philippines Inc. and the Negros Press Club.

The donation booth is located at the North main entrance of SM City Bacolod and the campaign will run until May 20.

Donate-A-Book aims at addressing the continuing problem of book shortage in public schools and libraries. Donated books will be distributed to the different barangays in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental to help augment scarce supply of books in public educational institutions, the press release said.

SM Foundation has allocated books to 26 day care centers, public elementary and secondary schools in the city. It also turned over more than 7,000 books in Cauayan and Don Salvador Benedicto towns, in the province, the press release said.

Cash donations will also be accepted to help improve the facilities and educational materials of DSWD-run day care centers. Those interested can deposit their cash donations at Banco de Oro Account No. 90101219, the press release added.*
