THE City Council of Bacolod has urged the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to fast track the completion of the ongoing infrastructure projects before April 29 in areas that will be used as venue for Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) Summit meeting.
Bacolod will host the Meeting on “Disaster Risk Finance-Apec Roadmap for Resilient Economies” at the SMX Convention Center on April 29 and 30.
The SP addressed its resolution to Bacolod City District Engineering Office headed by Engr. Abraham Villarreal.
Councilor Claudio Jesus Puentevella, who authored the resolution, said he sees the need for the DPWH to work doubly for the completion of these infrastructure projects.
The road leading to the SMX Convention Center is still under construction and this has been causing traffic jams and conversions, he noted.
The DPWH is currently implementing various infrastructure projects specifically road reconstruction/improvement/rehabilitation around the city.
Meanwhile, the SP passed another resolution authored by Puentevella extending appreciation to the Apec-National Organizing Committee (NOC) under the Office the President for designating Bacolod as host-local government unit in one of the 2015 Apec Summit meetings.
Bacolod City joins Benigno S. Aquino III and the distinguished members of the Apec-NOC in the commitment to the continued growth and development of the Asia-Pacific Region through close and meaningful cooperation with the countries in the region, the resolution said.
It added that Bacolod is greatly honored to host the prestigious conference of nations that will definitely boost the city’s economic growth and development in terms of trade, tourism, and investment. (CNC)
