SM Investments Corporation is co-sponsoring the Gawad Kalinga Global Expo, the venue of which is the bayside lot beside the SM Mall of Asia located at the SM Business Park. The event is slated from October 6 to 8.
For many years now, Gawad Kalinga has been helping less fortunate Filipinos build their own homes. Now it’s time to pay tribute to the countless people who have unselfishly shared a part of themselves for this worthy endeavor.
Dubbed as the “Gawad Kalinga Global Expo,�? the event will showcase forums all geared towards nation-building.
The forums include SiningKultura, a discussion on how GK communities are fast becoming tourist destinations; PaGKbayani GK Isang Milyong Bayani which will be about making heroism a lifestyle; and PanGKabataan, a community-based learning.
About 100,000 people are expected to participate in the 3-day event which aims to awaken the heroism of every Filipino here and abroad.
The highlight of the GK Global Expo is the “Parade of Heroes on October 7 at 5pm where various organizations, schools and universities, local government units, civic organizations, the police force and various corporations will come together in a show of unity and solidarity for the country. With the theme, “Bawat Pilipino Bayani! the parade is touted to be one of the largest gatherings of heroes in Philippine history. Another much-awaited event is the concert entitled, “GK1MB to be held on October 7.
This will be graced by world-class performers led by Gary Valenciano and Sarah Geronimo.
On the same night, there will also be a Band Fest to be held from 11pm until 4am on October 8 in time for a Dawn Mass which will be followed by Almusal ng Pinoy as the sun rises on the Manila Bay.
Other activities include a tour of the Gawad Kalinga model houses on the expo grounds and a painting exhibit.
Participating in Gawad Kalinga projects is part of SM’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility.
