SM Prime Holdings president Hans Sy (fourth from left): and Gawad Kalinga (GK) founder and Chairman Antonio Meloto (third from left) recently led the ground breaking ceremony for the 25 GK homes, which SM would be donating as part of its 2Sth anniversary celebrations.

Each of the homes located at Phase 8-A Package 11 Staging Area in Bagong Silang, Caloocan City, will be 21 square meters each. The project, which will be completed just in time for the SM City North Edsa anniversary in November 2010, will be named the SM City GK Village. The 25 homes will amount to about P3 million.

The Staging Area is presently occupied by different relocates-from Smokey Mountain in 1997, Paco in 1999, and Dagat-Dagatan fire victims in Caloocan City.
