SAN PABLO CITY, Laguna, October 17 (PIA) — SM City San Pablo recently held and celebrated Global Handwashing Day (GHD), simultaneously with all other malls of SM Group in the country, to promote good hygiene among the children in San Pablo.

Pupils from public schools have joined the celebration and they were taught on the importance of hand washing in preventing illnesses.

SM Supermalls partnered with the Department of Health (DOH), the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, UNILIVER and local government units all over the country to demonstrate the effective ways of washing hands through fun-filled activities.

The event focused on the message that washing with water alone is not enough and there is a need to be aware that by simply washing our hands before and after eating is one way to keep ourselves safe from diseases.

San Pablo CHO Safety Inspector Celsa Alcantara demonstrated the proper ways of washing hand with water and soap to children in attendance.

At present, the SM Group has 41 malls nationwide receiving an average of over 3 million shoppers daily; A home to 12,000 tenants, served by more than 25,000 SM employees.

Because of SM’s size and reach, the malls have virtually become information gateways and venues that promote and propagate such worthwhile activities. Thus, global handwashing is a testimony to the continuous commitment of the company to promote good health and clean living. (Nina W. Rada/PIA-Laguna)
