On the heels of donating the University of the Philippines (UP) Professional Schools in Taguig City, the Sy family on Friday disclosed a somewhat similar deed in the field of education – this time in Cebu.

A little under the year after it signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) and deed of donation with the Henry Sy Foundation, the Sacred Heart School-Hijas de Jesus (SHS-HDJ) accepted the Henry Sy Sr. Auditorium from the President of SM Hotels and Conventions Corp. Elizabeth T. Sy on Thursday.

The renovated 810-square meter auditorium has a seating capacity of 850. The foundation provided new seats, air-conditioning, lighting fixtures, and a generator set.

The SM Foundation has invested in other schools, including Sy’s alma mater Far Eastern University. Through the foundation, Sy has built 75 school buildings since 2002. The organization also supports 1,500 college scholars in 84 partner schools nationwide.
