After three years, two designs, and 1,500,000 eco bags later, SM Supermalls recently launched its new Eco Bags at the SM Megmall.

This time, with its bold I Am Involved statement, it not only reiterated its stand in protecting the earth, but also has taken its advocacy one step further by involving its tenants in this mall wide movement.

And the launch program reflected the involvement of different sectors. Former DENR Secretary Bebet Gozun, Environment and General Services, Inc President Jose G. Mendoza, ASEAN Biodiversity Executive Secretary Rodrigo Fuentez, and the Philippine Business for the Environment’s Bonar Laureto represented the environmental advocacy sector. The UNDP’s Amelia Supetran and Laos Embassy

Counselor Villayvanh Xaysomvang showed commitment to the environment on the global level; while the Assumption School of Business Dean Ricardo G. Cruz, Jr. represented the academe. 

SM Supermall tenants like Goldilocks Marketing Director Pinky Yee and Jollibee Foods Corporate Affairs Director Carina Aragao, as well as SM affilaites like SM Cinema, Toy Kingdom, and Pet Express joined in the movement with their own innovatively designed bags.

Young artists also did their share showcased in a violin performance by Ms. Eun Joo Park and the recitation of the iconic Joyce Kilmer poem Trees’ by SM Little Star JM Ybanes. Other artists like Rivermaya lead vocalist Jayson Fernandez and Rocky Collado and Louie Poco of the Bloomfields; as well as Aileen Papin, Aisaku Yokogawa, Young Jv, David DiMuzio, also graced the occasion.

SM Executives led by SM Supermalls President Annie Garcia and SM Environmental Committee head Lisa Silerio welcomed them.

The new SM Eco Bag is inspired by the United Nations Year of the Forest, with a tree as its major design element.
