Apart from the staple shopping, entertainment, and dining options SM Mall of Asia in Paranaque City offers, the mall is offering something new for families to learn and bond at the same time.

This summer, SM Lifestyle Entertainment Inc. reintroduces its brand, Exploreum, with new featured activities for the kids and kids at heart.

“Exploreum is a family-centered brand that engages curious minds through edutainment, which means education through entertainment. Because here at Exploreum, we want to learn science the fun way,” Aleli Cruz, SM’s assistant vice president for education and research center said during Exploreum’s launch.

Now fully renovated, parents and children can now explore 118 child-friendly interactive exhibits and over 100 nuggets of information situated in eight major galleries namely: Natural World, Human Adventure, Zoom,  Connect, Cyberville, Space Camp, Living Earth and Science Park.

Exploreum’s 3D holograms, realistic wax models, virtual reality simulations, optical illusions, detailed replicas, entertaining games, and audio-visual presentations promises to spark everyone’s imagination.

The facility also boasts of the Science on a Sphere, which is a room-sized digital globe that projects real-time, dynamic images of planets, climate change, ocean temperature, and air traffic. A first in the country, the Science on a Sphere was developed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Another would be the Dome Theater, the only theatre in the country with a 190-degree digital screen and advanced audio-visual system. With 158 seats, the Dome Theatre features a photo-realistic experience through clear-cut projections and surround sound that can make the audience feel that what they’re watching are within reach.

Meanwhile, on May 8-10, Exploreum is having the Summer Camp 2015 where kids from 4-12 years old can participate, and be exposed to practical science.

“This year, we have marine (life) as our first theme so children can learn about the marine life and the marine environment,” Cruz said.

For the first time, Exploreum is also having its Science Quiz Bee on a national level. With Php 1 million at stake, public and private schools can join the competition, which will run from July 2015 to February 2016.
