‘Chrysalis’ is a visual and poetic performance about attractions in intimate relationship and has been played in different countries around the world.
“Chrysalis,” a theatrical street performance by two French artists, recently regaled shoppers at the SM Aura Premier Sky Park.
“Chrysalis” was directed by Jordi L. Vidal, a Catalan choreographer and stage director. Vidal’s creative horizon reaches further than the world of dance and theater, including chamber music ensembles, circus and street theater companies, video creations, and art installations.
The 20-minute performance, featuring real-life couple Kevin Troussart and Vania D’Angelo, follows the story of a highly emotional couple who use a rope to symbolize the many aspects of life, particularly in relationships. It shows the ups and downs of a relationship, the struggles and emotional challenges of love from courtship to marriage.
A joint partnership between Alliance Francaise de Manille and SM Aura Premier, the project aims to promote French artistry in celebration of the International Francophonie Day.
The International Francophonie Day is an annual week-long celebration of the anniversary of the birth of the Intergovernmental Francophonie cooperation. “Francophonie” is the term used to refer to all people and countries speaking the French language, and “Francophonie Day” celebrates the language and the values of the French-speaking countries around the world. It was French geographer Onesime Reclus who first used the term in 1880.
